As you are probably well aware, this site has been down for the past week.
Unfortunately, "due to bandwith problems", our server Communitech decided to shut us down without warning. Now, as you will notice, all that's left of the site is this page.
We'll be back, but it'll take a while to have everything fully working again.
I am personally very sorry for the trouble and inconvenience this has caused you, but I'm sure you'll understand that the people who have a lost a lot from this is the staff of the site.
Again, we're sorry, but we'll definitely be back as soon as possible.

What's the CIA doing inside the Air Base?
If you use the WTD code available on the gameshark page and walkthrough the doors to enter the place, a CIA agent will be on the bottom. He'll walk around a bit, and sometimes say that great line "there's a maniac on the loose!". But he seems to not be there every time after I put on the disguise and go through the level normally...so, was he from a past objective?

Yes, IGN have confirmed it, Red and Black is the Japanese name of PErfect Dark. Read below to see the article.
"IGN64 has learned that Perfect Dark will come to Japan later this year, but under the name of Red & Black. It seems the concept behind the name Perfect Dark doesn't translate very well and Nintendo doesn't want Japanese gamers to miss out on the play on words.
That and the Kanji (the Chinese symbols used to write Japanese) for the words Red and Black are supposedly cool enough to convey the edginess of the title. And if you want to really reach for an explanation the "red" could be symbolic of all the blood you'll spill in the game, and the "black" represents the whole mysterious, espionage, covert operations vibe of the game.
In any case, Red and Black will be out later this year and there should be some damn cool box art to go with it too. There is still no word on the Japanese Game Boy Color Perfect Dark game.

These cause all Sims to be Dr. Carrols, some with different screens than others. They all make Dr. Carrol noises and can actually fight! This will definately go on the beta page soon.
When Dr. Carrol dies, he explodes causing damage! All I can say, is why Rare, why!?!?

Remember the old "floating mine" trick from Bond, weel, you can do it in Perfect Dark as well. Just go to say, the grid, and you know the glass floor area. Chuck a remote mine on the glass, and then shoot the glass out, the mine will float. Serves no purpose what so ever, but still fun to do.

I might make an interesting stuff page. Here is some stuff I have found, excluding keep Cassandra alive. I have not seen these anywhere, so I was probably the first to notice them.
1.Co-op Mode w/ Velvet Dark
a.Velvet Dark will transport in front of you in Covert Assault past the elevator Elvis tells you to take. She does not take an elevator up.
b.Velvet will also transport past the main gate to meet Joanna when she goes into the explosives Bunker on A51: Infiltration.
c.Velvet can actually complete objectives in Carrington Institute. She will kill snipers for the objective, and will knock out a guard for the objective to be complete.
d.Velvet talks!
e.Velvet will destroy your DrugSpy in Air Base on sight. It can actually kill her, also, if she doesn't manage to destroy it.
2.Co-op w/ a human
a.The necklace in Covert Assault on Perfect Agent is the normal necklace, not the replacement.
b.Player 2 cannot open the left lift door on Area 51: infiltration but can open the right one with the lift key. The game says "Lift Key required to open door" for the left one, even though the player has the key....player one can open both...bug?
c.Both agents must be in the elevator in Covert Assault for it to go up, unlike with Velvet.
d.Player two also loses his or her weapons in Air Base, even if he or she did not throw the suitcase. So why don't you both get the disguise?
e.Both players cannot be with the president, because the second player does not have the suitcase.
3.Counter-op
a.The counter-op can be the double mauler guard in Covert Assault.
b.In War!, the counter-op occassionally may be an unarmed Skedar right at the Maian leader.
c.The counter-op can be the Skedar right at Cassandra in Covert Assault, and can follow her. She dies not from a Skedar slash...conspiracy?
d.Carrington Institute: The counter-op cannot open the doors to the hostages (and can't kill them) until the first player opens them. Drone guns will cut down the counter-op.

If you want, Joanna can save Cassandra on Covert Assault. I just discovered the trick this morning, but it's nothing special.
Put on the psychosis gun cheat and 1000% health (optional) and shoot Cassandra immedietly from a distance after you exit the first door. She'll just stand there, and you can kill her. Her necklace will pop out.
According to Will and Ariel Durant of The World's Religions, the password for the necklace, I AM OZYMANDIAS, means:
I AM - Cassandra De Vries is
OZYMANDIAS - a poem about death being your destiny.
Put it together and you have Cassandra writing on her necklace the knowledge she would soon die...and Entropic Decay might mean SOS.

We need a talented map maker. If you think you got what it takes to make high quality maps of Perfect Dark, then do apply. You will be required to make maps of single and multi-player levels, only the best need apply.
To apply: Write an email, subject "Staff". Describe any work experience you have (not needed). No HTML skills required, but you need to be handy with a graphics program. Send a complete sample map of a level, I don't care if you a 7 years old, if your map looks the best you are hired.
So send me the emails!

I won't give you the exact contest details just yet, but I will say that it will only be open to those who have achieved the rank of "Special Agent" in our forums. To do this you must first register a nickname and then all you have to do is get involved in discussion as much as you can! Sources confirm that Rare has actually trademarked the name "After Dark" and it is listed as a US Trademark. Rare has also advertised in British newspapers about many job openings in these current fields:

Also, I just received some startling new information on the beta version of PD from a scan of N64 magazine 30. It seems Joanna would go back in time to the beginning of time, when two ancient races fought for control. The Maians were evil and took over Area 51. It's all fascinating and I can't wait for my next update. dataDyne created the time device (which is why they are in Chicago), and Joanna somehow finds it and gets shipwrecked on the Deep Sea vessel, and eventually goes back to the beginning of time...wow. Thanks to Chris Steven for the informative scan!
