1.
Do you think there'd be ANY chance at all that Rare and Interact Accessories
would talk about teaming up to allow this: Upon PD's release, Rare would
create a new multiplayer level every month that could be downloaded
off of their site, and into a dexdrive. From there, you'd need a new
'high memory' memory card to download the level to then open it up in
the game. Probably wishful thinking, but give me your thoughts.
2. Using the gameboy
camera, do you think/know if it'd be possibleto say, for example,
print off a picture of someone from the internet, then use the GBC
to take a pic of it as your PD character? -- Mike
Schneider
Doak:
1. Though this is technically possible, it is highly unlikely. For everybody
to have to buy the dexdrive, the creation of a new 'high memory' card,
and to create a brand new level every month would be extremely costly
for the consumer, Rare and Nintendo. However, little information is
available about this topic at this time, so this is not fact.
2. Though my
experience with the gameboy camera is limited, if the picture was of
good quality and size, (It would probably have to be life size and from
the right angle), this should be possible.
How many levels
is Rare currently working on for Perfect Dark? -- Robert
Doak:
There is little information about levels at the moment, but you can
be sure that Rare will strive to include 20+ single player levels, and
enough multiplayer levels (more than Goldeneye's multiplayer) to keep
you entertained for eternity.
Tweek:
I have heard that there'll be as many as 22 levels, however I can't
be certain at this point in time. Just expect around 20 single-player
levels.
Is it true that
PD will only have the same deaths as in Goldeneye, cause that would
suck if they were that unoriginal! -- Eric
Doak:
I take it you mean the multiple animation sequences for dying. In that
case, the movies you have seen from E3 or other sources, all contain
the same animation sequences from Goldeneye, because Rare had not yet
created their new and improved death animations. Rare has a motion capture
lab, and with the assistance of stunt actors, you will see some fantastic
animations to replace the existing Goldeneye ones.
Hi, it's me again!
You said that once you kill a guy he disappears but I heard that they
stay on the ground forever? Thanx great site! -- Eric
Doak:
Though you may hear other things, nothing has been confirmed yet. Most
of the information lying around now is from E3, and that information
is jumbled. Some say the bodies stay for ever, but then the game would
eventually freeze up due to the memory. Others say the bodies disappear
after they are out of eyesight, or after you leave the room. And the
others say it's the same as in Goldeneye. Everything seen at E3 was
still in developmental stages, so anything is likely to change. My educated
guess is that some bodies will stay, and others will disappear. But
nothing is confirmed.
Tweek:
I heard a number of things also. If bodies were to stay on the ground
for ever, the game wouldn't necessarily freeze, because the number of
enemies in a given level would be restricted. However, I doubt that
they will stay forever. I'm expecting that bodies will stay in a place
until you leave the room, so if you come back in again all you will
see is their blood on the walls and ground.
Will the game
be bloody? As much as I enjoyed the first game, Goldeneye. I would
have killed for more blood. Also will there be a Flame thrower? --
Chris
Doak:
The levels of blood and gore in Perfect Dark, will rate somewhere between
Goldeneye and Turok 2, but closer to the Goldeneye end of the scale.
As for the Flame
thrower, no news has been heard yet, but it would be interesting. I
wouldn't be surprised if there is one, it fits in with the whole Perfect
Dark scene quite well.
Tweek:
I know that when you kill someone, a bit of blood will splatter on the
walls. This can be seen in some of the movies. Expect it to be similar
to GoldenEye, with a little more blood. Don't expect heads to be decapitated
and arms blown off, because that's not what the game is meant to be
like.
What date is Perfect
Dark actually going to be released? -- Luke
Doak:
Late '99, hopefully. I'm sure Rare will try and get it out by Christmas,
to boost their sales, but if they hit a major problem in the development,
we may not see it until 2000.
Tweek:
The earliest date confirmed has been December 6th, however there has
been talk about the date being as late as the 15th. Just hope to see
Perfect Dark at the end of the year.
How many multiplayer
boards will there be ? And what are the multiplayer modes? -- Mr
Worm
Doak:
There will be more multiplayer levels in PD than there are in Goldeneye,
quite a few more, plus some retouched Goldeneye levels to add.
The multiplayer
modes will be numerous, no doubt, but little information is available
at the moment, except that they will include some of the existing Goldeneye
modes, plus extras such as Bots and Sims.
It is said that
perfect dark will no longer have a co-op mode in most of the sites,
how sad. -- Heatburst
Doak:
Perfect Dark will not include a co-op mode, it was taken out due to
memory constraints. That much has been confirmed, but you will be able
to play on a team, with a friend against Bots in multiplayer, not single
player, and you can call that co-op if you really, really want.
As you all know
Perfect Dark is rated Mature right? But it can't be upped from Teen
to Mature just because of those blood splats can it? Or is that enough
to make it rated that? Would Perfect Dark have mild language in it like
hell and damn as in Metal Gear Solid to make it mature or what? That
violence alone can't make it Mature, right? -- Ladysman
Doak:
I think that the extra blood can make a large difference in the ratings,
even enough to increase a Teen rating to Mature. However, the ratings
don't get applied until the game is entirely finished, and small changes
can make a large difference.
As far as I know,
Perfect Dark will include voices for the soldiers during gameplay, but
I'm not sure if these words will be severe enough to change the ratings.
I wouldn't know
if "hell" or "damn" are even considered severe in the ratings world,
though I presume they are.
In Perfect Dark
Will You Be Able To Use A Flame Thrower Or Will There Be Any New Type
Of Explosions? Will The Game Have All The Cheats From Golden Eye Or
Any New Ones? If You Use A Rocket Launcher And Hit The Enemy Will
Any Body Parts Blow Off Or Anything? Will You Be Able To Use A Moter
Boat For One Of The Missions And Try To Kill Enemys That Try To Kill
You By Useing A Moter Boat (shoot Rockets Or Something)? If You Do
Get To Use A Flame Thrower For One Of The Weapons Do You Think You
Will Be Able To Set The Enemy On Fire? -- Jas
Nahal
Doak:
There has been nothing heard about a flamethrower yet, or whether the
bodies will catch on fire. One thing I do know is that fire is hard
to duplicate well using polygons, so it takes a lot of memory. The only
thing I know about the explosion animation is that they are very similar
to Goldeneye's but slightly bigger. This is likely to change, remembering
that Rare used existing Goldeneye animations and bits at E3.
I think that
the gore won't be as heavy as body parts blowing off, but as you see
from the screenshots, the gore is slightly higher than Goldeneye.
As for transport,
the only thing I know about is the hover bike, and that it is likely
to have an on board weapon. You can hope that enemies will have them
as well and they are included in multiplayer, but nothing has been heard.
Tweek:
Woah... Why Do You Have To Type Like This? It Gives Me A Headache...
And Typing Like This Makes My Shift-Key Finger Sore.
I highly doubt
that there'll be a flamethrower... I think the Hoverbike vehicle will
be a lot like the tank from GoldenEye. The tank had an in-built weapon
and you could use your own weapons while driving it. I'm not sure yet
if the Hoverbike does have an in-built weapon, but there's a chance.
When you think about it, what would they use as a weapon?
